"Life is struggle accept it"

"Learn from the past, look to the future, but live in the present - Petra Nemcova” I think 2012 is a kind of complicated year for me and my family. We passed some problems that we had passed before. I am going to mention it as a major problem that was risky for my education. We have been living in the US about for three and half years. I have never worked in the US due to the fact that I want to take various classes in full time and to take care of my family, but my husband work and cover all expenses. We still couldn’t get affordable house, so we are living in the apartment that the rent is very high. At the beginning of 2012 we had so much hope to get affordable house; however, everything is going worst. In the middle of 2012 I almost quite my education in order to get job and help my husband expenses. Specially, for apartment rent. I remember how we felt sad by situation that our landlord told us about increasing the rent. We had contract for one year, but the end of our contract we have to sign another contract with more rent that we couldn’t afford. I decided to stop my class and start job; fortunately, we move another apartment that we can afford it. When we lived in our country we had own house, so I never got this kind of problem. Even though my family and I passed this unforgettable bad memory and other that I didn’t mention it, we are healthy and happy family. We are going to celebrate the 2013 New Year with better hope.

               

My 2012 Highlight

     The time goes by quick! It is already the end of 2012, and do you believe we will be gone 12 days later? Oh, my God! It's the end of the world! However, I don’t believe at all, I think it is impossible to happen. When I look back the year of 2012, I find two highlight things in my life.

    
     First, I bought a car which is my first car in my life. I always work at night; therefore, it has made my life safely for me. Also, it has made my life more convenient than before because I can go anywhere I want.

   
      Second, volunteering for non-credit class is a very valuable experience for me. Project SHINE which gives us a chance to helping people is a very good program for ESL students. I still remember that a coach who spent time to help me improve my English when I was in non-credit class. So I was so happy to become a coach because it gives me an opportunity communicates with different people who like me before. I did my best to help them learning more and more, therefore, I have to thank Project SHINE to give me an opportunity to realize one of my dreams. I will continue to work on it next semester!

 

My 2012 Highlight

         Time goes faster. Right now it is the last month of 2012. I review this year what is my highlight. I did two important things that I will look back in the future. First, I went back to china to visit my family and  my friends this summer. I hadn't seen my friends and my family for almost three year. I was very happy. I also travled several places that I looked forward to go to visit. I like to travel. I have to save my money every time I want to travel. I ate the food that It doesn't have in the United Stated. I like the weather, too. The weather is hot that I can wear dress and short jeans. I enjoy the weather even through it is very hot. I haven't enjoyed my summer weather in the United Stated. In San Francisco, every day is in winter for me. I visited my friends. We went shopping and traveled together. We took lots of pictures.  When I review my pictures in China, I still feel very happy.

      The second thing that I did volunteer for the program of projectshine in CCSF.  It required 20 hours for a semester. This is my first time to do volunteer in the United Stated in my life. I was happy that I did volunteer. I helped a lot of people that they needed  help. I gained experience during volunteering. And I get volunteer experience on my personal resume, too. I go to school, go to work, and do 20 hours volunteer. I am tried, but I am happy that I can finish 20 hours and help people really need help. Our classmates also did volunteer . We took pictures. This is my highlight in 2012.

      Do you believe this year is the last year for all living things? What are you going to do if 12-21-2012 is date for the end of the world? Recently, I have heart many of  these questions from my friends. To be honest, I don't believe that date will be the end of the world. Moreover, if it is true, what can I do? I can't do anything of that. To me, 2012 is not a happy year because I didn't do anything special to change my life, or even affect my life. Maybe my life just too simple to has a unforgettable memory. Studying in the same school, doing the same job, living in the same place, and meeting with the same people. All those things enough drive me crazy. All I need to do is break though myself.
      However, there is one thing I feel comfortable. I bought a brand new car in this year. This is my second car because my sister took my first car, so I need to buy one. I have never had any experience to bargaining with car dealer since I bought this car. Before I bought this car, I did many research of this car, and I also compared this car to other similar cars. I went to the dealership to tested driving this car, and then I found that this is the car I want. I spent almost 2 hours to bargain with the dealer. Guess what? I bought my car in a low price which is $2000 lower than the original price. Here is a thing, you don't have to care about what the dealer said about the price, and what you need to do is stand your point and never change. If you want to buy a new car, maybe you can bring me with you.

2012 Highlights

   I had two things to do in my life that I went to City College and Zoo with my best friends. There were many memorable things for me to do in the past that I have been studying in school and met my new friends. Also, I went to Zoo of San Francisco, I had a lot of fun there. I think this year is end too fast because there have few weeks to end the 2012. I'm planing to take trip to Oecan Beach with my friends. This year were very important for us because we had to vote for president. Of course, there have happy or sad in our lives.

 First thing, I have been studying in City College. It was very important for me to learn something in school such as English and math. I actually didn't know how to solve my math problem, but I have a best friend to help me. He is very good at math. I met him at school when we were in our math class. Also, I learned how to swim well because my teacher taught me. I felt little nervous when I in the water. I didn't know how breath inside the water, but My classmate helped me how breath inside in the water. He is very good at swiming. I don't know why I know all my friends or classmates more smart than me. In addition, my ESL class that I leanred a lot from it such as wrting skills and improved my grammar.

     Last thing, I was memorable that I went to Zoo with my friends. Actually, we had a lot of fun there when we saw different kinds of animals likes snake, bird, tiger and other. I saw one of the animal is very small, I didn't know what is call, but I heard some people said that was called smart bird. I was very surprised that I never see it in my life. After we looked at around the Zoo, we went out the street and my friend helped me take the pciture. I only memory happy things in life and other I don't care for it.
     I hope everyone has a good memorable in our lives.

The most ESSENTIAL memories In ✿ 2012 ✿

Most people are talking about 2012 is end of the world. To be honest, I am afraid that comes true because I have many things haven't done yet. Even though something had made me felt sad in 2012, I still appreciated because it brought me some important memories too. The summer of 2012, I went back to China with my younger brother. That was a wonderful trip for me because I did something that I wanted to do for a long time. There were a nice trip in China and my art photos.


One of my unforgettable memories in 2012 is I had a really nice 4 days' trip with my relatives in China. We flew to the famous tourist place that called SanYa, HaiNan Island. Seafood and all of the coconut products are the specials in SanYa,HaiNan Island. In addition, it was a really good place for people spend their holiday too because the environment was quiet, and people just lied on the beach and would feel really relaxed. They had many super beautiful sceneries in SanYa, especially are seascapes. Playing on the beach and swimming were the best choice at the hotel. I lived in the five stars' hotel that called SanYaMeiGaoMei. They were many swimming pools, massage pools, and an endless beach around the hotel. Also,the most special is, a bar built in a swimming pool'scenter. After you swim, you could sit down and drink a glass of wine,then go swimming again. I felt sorry that I didn't take a photo of that bar. If I go there agian in my future, I will take a photo and share it. Around three or four o'clock in the afternoon, it would be so many people on the beach because everyone enjoyed waves in the ocean. It was really big waves everyday in the afternoon. It was not like surfing,but I thought that was great fun and stimulated as much as surfing. Even though having lifeguards there, it will still be dangerous if you are a child or you don't know how to swim because when waves come, it is really easy to rush you far away. Making yourself more enjoyable and protecting yourself at the same time, the best thing you can do is you jump when waves come. In addition, we rent a car and drove to the most three famous attractions. The one that I really liked was called TianYaHaiJiao. I didn't know how I could express my feeling of that place, it was an extremely beautiful place.Even though I felt uncomfortable those days because I had a car sick, over all, I really enjoyed it and I loved SanYa, HaiNan Island.

 

The art photo, is the other unforgettable memory for me. Do you know what is art photos? That is you can choose any clothes or dresses, also you can choose any background, such as an indoor or outdoor style for your art photos. You just need to show your pose and your expression during a photographer taking a photo of you. I hope you will get my little explanation. I remember that my mom usually brought me to take art photos when I was a child. That was long time ago. Until now I am 20, I take it again. It was exactly different feeling at that time because I wore my dream dress. For women, I believe that marriage gauze is the most unforgettable, the most beautiful dress in their whole life. I often fantasy when I become a bride because I can wear a pretty wedding dress. I always thought that people could wear it only if they got married, but I just wore it when I took my art photos. I felt so happy because my little dream came true.

Unforgettable Memory in 2012

  What have you done in 2012? It is coming to the end of 2012, no one can predict what will happen in the future! In addition, I believe that everyone will be at least one unforgettable memory in their life. For me, I had many memorable events in this years. Let me turn back to review what the highlights are in this year.

  One of these memorable is when I lived here almost one year, I went to the church and got a job that was teaching children in summer program! This was very important experience in my life~~ I learned more from teaching students. Not only I knew god how important in my life and changed my life a lot because of him, but also I met some new friends in church!!! I had a very special summer because of my job and my students! If i didn't know them, I would not have a special time during my life!! After summer program at August, I went to summer camp with my church,this was my first time going to camp. Fianlly, I love my students, even though they did a wrong thing.
 

  Another of my highligh is that I went to concert with my sister. was about "Stand-up comedy ancestor--shower", Dayo wong Tze Wah, who is hongkong famous' actor and singer. This was my first time to concert, that's why it was also my highligh in 2012. I love him very much becasue he is funny, and when I watched his show, I could not stop laughing. At that day, We prepared ourselves in advance to meet him because we were so excited. Then we were laughing until at the end of the show. That was my exciting memorable in my life!

  The last one is that my parents went back to china and I went to airport to see of them. It was very touching me in airport because I knew I would miss them a lot. I was looking at them when they went through to check passport, I couldn't stop crying! Airport, which is a sad place of my life. Because of they left, I knew that my parents is how important for me !! Thanks to 2012, I got lots of experience from my job, my family and my friend!!  Finally, I belive that I will get more exciting and wonderful experience in my future!!

Every day I am .....

        There are many things that I must do everyday, drinking coffee is one of them. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning, is making coffee.   I don't start my day until I drink my first cup of coffee.  I usually drink 3 cups of coffee a day, one in the morning ,in the afternoon and in the evening. The first cup of coffee is the most impotent, it means I am ready to start my day and do other chores.  The Ethiopian coffee ceremony is one of my favorite way to drink coffee. Usually family member or friends coming over  for coffee. First, you roast the coffee beans, next you grind them and then you brow them and serve the coffee in small cups. You repeat the the brewing part 3 time. you also serve home made snacks like roasted chickpeas or bread. When I visit my family, we always have the  Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

         

           The second thing that I do everyday is look at the time.  checking the time is very essential to get places on time and to complete assignment. everyday I look at the time  and calculate how long it will take me to get  school when I am driving or taking the bus. I also look at the time to make sure that I am not late to  work or class especially when I have 10  minutes brake in between class. When I call over seas I need to at the time and calculate the  10 hours time differences,  so I will be ale to speak with people in a dissent hour. I do the same thing when I call my friend in the east cost, even though its only 3 hours difference.   I look at the time every day and all day long. Sometime the time pass  fast and sometime it feels like it not.

It is Imperative for me

            Many people have some things to do in their everyday life that might be really important. As for me, I have a lot of things to do in my daily life. Some of them are imperative, and I have to do devoid of stop. Praying and cooking are the major things that I always like to do. I grow up in a very spiritual family and religious countries, so prayer everyday is one part of my life.  By the time when I was 7 years old, I had trained that how to pray every day; as a result, I always pray when I wake up and when I sleep. Prayer is the power for me in order to be free from any nervous tension.  Once I pray, I don’t worry about anything due to I believe that God be with me in every condition. In fact prayer everyday is a long time habit of me and also very useful in order to live happy life.

In addition to praying cooking is important thing that I have to do every day. As we all know, eating fresh food is essential to be in health condition. According to this thinking I always like to cook. Of course, everybody has to cook at least ones or twice a week; however, I cook twice a day. I am a mother of two sons. My children eat their lunch at school, but I have to prepare their breakfast at home always; otherwise I don’t feel comfort about my kids. They might or might not eat their lunch in school am not sure, so the only chose that I have I feed them in the morning well; similarly, at dinner time all family cook and eat together. I enjoy this cooking habit ;even though, sometimes feel tired.  

Two Important Things in My Daily Life

Listening to music is one of important things in my daily life. Music gives me the color of the world. If my life without music, I will live like a color blind who is living in a black and white world. When I was little, I felt in love with music somehow. Maybe I was affected by my father because he was playing music in our house every single day. When I grew up a little bit, no matter where I went, I would bring my walkman or mp3 player. Now, even though I am driving everyday, I'm still playing the music in my car. I really enjoy the time listening to music while I am driving.

Another important thing in my daily life is surfing the Internet. Checking the E-mail is the action that I do everyday. Beside checking E-mail, I usually google many stuff in the computer. Even though I am not a shop-a-holic, I like going to some websites to check which products are on sale, and sometimes I will shop online because it is convenient. There is one more thing I usually do on the Internet is watching video. I like watching all kind of videos, especially the funny video. Every time when I watching the funny video, I will feel very relax and happy.

I need to do every day

Everyone has their own life so everyone has their stuff to do everyday depond on their situation and circumstance. For me, I also have several things to do everyday for example go to school, do my homework, cooking. The most two important things I do are drinking water and go on the Internet.

First, The most important thing I do is drinking a cup of warm water after I brush my teeth every day. I usual drink a cup of warm water every day. If my house no more hot water, I will drink cold water. I think this is a good and healthy habit. I remember that when I was in elementary school, I started to drink a cup of warm water before my breakfast. I can no breakfast and lunch, but I need a cup of water. I don't know why I do that, but if I don't drink water before my breakfast. I feel like uncomfortable and I don't want to eat anything. I can't without water in my life.

Second, The second important thing I do is going on the Internet. I go on online a lot every day. When I am at home, I usually open my computer go on facebook chat with my friends, surf my blog, read news, watch video, listen to music and do my homework. I can do lots of thing on my computer. When I am go out, I aslo go on the Internet on my cell phone. I read news, chat with my friends on facebook, play game, and use the ditionary. I use the ditionary a lot on my phone. I need to learn new new vovabulary every day, so I need to check meanings on my phone every day. I can't imagine what can I do without the Internet one day. The Internet is part of my life.

Nelson's Dream

            “No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true.” Nelson's Dream is written by J.M. Newsome. The action takes place in South Africa. The story is about the major problem in most of the world that HIV AIDS. The main character 22-year-old Nelson Mbizi comes from wealth family. He studies hotel management in UK. After he returned his home country South Africa, he desire to help people who suffer with HIV and children that lost their parents. Nelson's family don’t allow him to help poor orphans; however, one woman who is TV presenter work with him to help others. Nelson is very generous and also kind person. He work hard to achieve his dream that to assist people who live around sector D and suffer with HIV; moreover, he is trying to accumulate a helping center that can serve many HIV victims. While he is trying to lend a hand those people he meets diverse community. Some of people who meet Nelson are very interesting like Daniel. Nelson struggles with various problems in order to rich his goal. His father involve in government corruption that makes Nelson very upset. There is too much chalange and riged trouble; alternatively, love, thriving and plasure.  

 

  

This book is very remarkable due to the fact that tells about the main problem in the entire world. Personally I really resemble the book. When I read the book, I get more fact information about HIV that different from I knew before and also some of the book charters are make me motive by their tough work in terms of achieve their aspiration. Of course, I am from Africa, so some part of the story is familiar for me. Finally the book surprized me. I suggest that  everyone should read this book in order to know more thing about HIV and in the mean time improve your reading skills. It is impressing.

Nelson's Dream by J.M Newsome

Genre: Human Interest

Have you ever make your dream come true?  Would you make it happen at any price? When Nelson returns to his home country in Africa after a few years. He realizes that many things have changed and he is facing new challenges, relationships and his family too.  He is working at ones of his father hotels. During this time, Nelson meets Daniel and Viki, who changed his life, and became part of his journey.

This story captivates the reader from the first few pages. It is sad and makes you emotional, yet full of hope and good people who are wiling to help. This story also raises the awareness of AIDS, which is real situation that people have to deal with all over the world. I enjoyed reading the book. It was easy to read and to understand. It also makes you wander how can you contributes and help others.

A Love for Life was written by Penny Hancock.  This book shows us how one woman named FANELLA finds her real happiness sincerely in her life. The part of her character that i like most is that she is able to be satisfied with what she has now. Throwing the overwanting away, she closes her eyes from the things she can't take at all. However, she doesn't lose her hands for what she really wants for her entire life. Adoption children. Anyway if you are in the middle of way of your life and don't know where to go,read this book..it can help you look into yourself and what really you want for your life.  Fanella bravely faces the challenge of adopting a child alone afer her partner leaves her. But the Rod, a teacher who has problems of his own, comes to her life. Fanella has diffcult choices and exciting discoveries to make.

  I  recommend this book because while i was reading this book, i could find myself from her. She knows how to get happiness,how to get come to herself and how to be what she is, and I feel more comfortable with my life after I read it.

     All I Want, this book is written by Margartet Johnson. The setting is in Brighton. The main character is Alex Faye in the story. She is an interesting and funny person. The story is about a love story.
    

     Will you update your hoping list for your birthday? The main character Alex Faye has two hoping lists. One of the lists is about what things she wanted to do before older than twenty-nine years old. Another one is what she is going to do after her thirty birthday. In the new list she wants to be her boss girlfriend, it was so bad because she have already had a boyfriend. However her birthday day was so funny that make everybody pay attention to her, For example, she goes work late, wears different colors shoes, and she did not know etc…Finally Alex Faye knows what is the most important thing and what is she really want. 
    

     I want to recommend  this book because I think it is an interesting, funny, and lovely story. It has lots of funny things and some romantic things. The story has shocked me because in her new list, she wants to break up with her boyfriend, and to be her boss Brad’s girlfriend. Even though this book is easy for me, I have read three love stories since this semester. But It is good for ESL students because we can learn new vocabulary and can improve our reading sppech!

E veryone has a dream. No matter it is an ordinary dream or a special dream because I believe that have a dream, life will become more beautiful. Nelson's Dream was written by J.M. Newsome. The story is set in the imaginary African country of Gomokure in 2003.  The main character is called Nelson Mbizi, he returns to southern Africa after studying in Britain. Also he is going to work in his father's hotel. At the beginning of the story, the plot is really sad. It talks about a poor family's mother died because of HIV. Therefore, four children become orphans and their mom leave them away. At that time, Nelson Mbizi is going to help this poor family. In addition, although these four children lost their mother, they know they need to continute their life, and helping each others and support their family. Furthermore, Nelson and others have restored and old bus garage to turn it into a centre and try to treat for HIV/AIDS. In summary, Nelson is a nice person because he is trying his best to help people who need help and helping others is also his ordinary dream.

In my opinion, I don't really like this book because some information make me confused, but never mind because that information is not necessary for the story, it is just a episode. Therefore, I still recommend Nelson's Dream for you, you should read it because it is a good book and it looks like a real story in our real life, and I believe that has happened in some people's life around the world. Also, although Nelson was born on rich family and he didn't have to help other poor family, he just tried his best to help others. This is really good for us to learn about it. Nowadays our society needs these people who are willing to help others without any benefits. Furthermore, this story unfolds against a background of HIV/AIDS and government corruption. Because of HIV/AIDS, let us can more clearly to know our lifes are much precious.

       Being a single mother is not an easy job, especially the child is not your biological child. In Penny Hancock's A Love for Life, there is a touched story takes place in Cambridge. Fanella, who broke with her boyfriend because her boyfriend didn't want to adopt a child, would face many challenge of adopting the child---Ellie. However, Rod, who is Ellie's teacher, a nice man, and a married man, came into her life. Every time she faced problems, Teresa, who is her best friend, would be there to helped her. But Fanella still have so many things for herselt to face and decide.

      Overall, A Love for Life is a nice book for ESL150 students because it is not hard to read. You can improved your reading speed after you finished reading the book because each chapter is long but the vocabulary is simple. Honestly, I don't like this book, and the reason is some chapers are too boring. At the beginning I read the book, I thought each chaper would be relatived, and this book was all about parent and child's love. Unfortunately, the book is not like what I expected. If you like love story and want to improve your reading speed, so I recommend this book. If you want some interesting book like I do, so please don't take this book because it is not interesting at all.

A Love for Life, the book is written by Penny Hancock. The action takes place in London.Fanella is a kind-hearted and brave person. Her partner Steven is a bad guy. He has an affair and cheat Fanella that she can't have a baby.Finally Steven leaves and gets married with his affair. Fanella really love child. She decides to adopt a 5 years old child Ellie by herself so that she has to face lots of challenges. Then, Fanella meets a right person Rod to get together. Rod is a teacher and get divorced that his marriage has problems.Now, Fanella and Rob have their own child because Fanella have a pregnant and a good adoptive daughter. They all fall in hippiness.

I am impressed by I think this is a good book and has wonderful stories.I like this book. Fanella has a good friend Teresa that she can share happiness and sadness. That is not easy to keep a friendship that they can talk everything and share everything. Ellie is a lucky child also an unlucky child. She finally is adopted by a good mother Fanella and has a good father Rob. Fanella meet a right partner Rob after she is heart-broken that Steven leaves her. I think everyone needs love and this book talks about how a person needs love no matter you are a child or an adult. I recomend this book because this is a good book. The story is interesting and the book doesn't have too much new vocabulary. It is very easy to understand and catch the meaning. It is very helpful for second language students to learn English.

              This picture is one of the most marvelous places in my home country Ethiopia.  Ethiopia found in east Africa. As you look in the picture it's made from one big rock and it has a number of room inside. That's why the name of this church is Rock - Hewn Church.This church made at 16 century that is the one to make amazing the place because people who live in that time  how made it with out any developed materials. I think  people use only traditional materials, but the structure of the building is very modern. Still today many people who visit the place ask themselves about contraction that how they made it at that century. The structure is exceptional  The place is one of  the UNESCO World Heritage Centers; Moreover many tourist visit every year and they can't describe the structure of the church. Personally I have never been there because I lived in capital city of Ethiopia it is very far from that but I always have intend to visit when I will go my home country to visit my family.

                This place has great meaning for all Ethiopian that show how our ancestors were very strong and creator. Despite Ethiopia is a 3rd world country, all world recognize that at 16 century Ethiopia was one of the greatest country. Actually, this Rick-Hewn church is not the one that Ethiopia has constructed in 16 century there are many architectures and structures which still many tourists visit and they show their appreciation.
